Tankless Water Heater Problem in San Diego, CA

Plumber in kitchen with a wrench. Foreman.

While tankless water heaters are usually very reliable, they can develop problems just like any other piece of equipment. Here are some of the most common:

If a system is improperly installed, that can lead to corrosion in the heat exchanger, which is the heart of the system. Most heat exchangers are made of either stainless steel or copper and do a good job of resisting corrosion. However, if the installer does not correctly provide a way for a tankless system to collect and divert condensation, corrosion can take place.

A system’s gas burner can also corrode due to condensation dripping from the heat exchanger. The venting has to properly terminate or condensation will not be collected correctly. In this instance, the burner will not be able to supply enough gas because it will be restricted. This will eventually lead to the system shutting itself down because it cannot heat water to the proper temperature.

If you have high water pressure in your home, your tankless system will be under a great deal of stress, as will all of your plumbing. This can lead to problems with the connections in your system. Make sure you have a water pressure regulator to reduce the chances of this type of issue taking place.

Call Arnett’s Plumbing today, and we’ll make sure that your tankless water heater system is properly installed!
