Tankless Water Heater Mixing Valve Clog in La Mesa, CA

Feb 25, 2014

A tankless water heater’s mixing valve can result in water that is too hot. If you have this type of problem, here’s what you can do to fix it.

You should first turn off the system and try cleaning around the valve. This will obviously not help with clearing out a clog inside the valve, but it could make it easier for the valve to be able to turn. Mix some vinegar and baking soda together and gently clean around the valve with a soft cloth. This will eliminate any buildup of crust.

Next, you should flush the system to remove the clog. Close the shut-off valve while you drain it, and then open the valve back up when you flush. Always look at your manufacturer’s recommendations before you attempt this sort of project. If you have any questions, give us a call and we can walk you through the process.
