Regular cleaning important for good maintenance.
One of the best things that you can do to extend the life of your tankless water heater is to have it maintained on a regular basis. This will help make sure it is working properly as well as keeping it clear of calcium buildup that can lead to serious issues. One part of a good maintenance program is regular cleaning, which you can do on your own if you are inclined.
You’ll need to have a hose connection, a couple of gallons of white vinegar, a small sump pump and a bucket.
Turn off your inlet water, output water, gas line, and, if possible, the tankless lever. You’ll know that your pipelines are off when the levers are turned in a perpendicular manner in relation to the pipe.
Make sure you relieve the air pressure.
Attach one end of the hose to the inlet and the other to the sump pump. Fill the bucket with the vinegar and submerge the pump. Take another hose and connect one end to the output side of your tankless system. Put the other end in the bucket so the vinegar can pump through the system. Turn the pump on so that you can flush the tankless water heater.
