It’s an all too familiar story – you turn on the hot water tap, and cold water immediately comes out of the faucet. You patiently (or impatiently) wait for the water to warm up, which may take minutes. Why does this happen? After you use hot water and turn off the tap, the hot water does not return to your water heater but stays in your pipes until it gets cold. So, the next time you’d like to use hot water, the cold water stuck in the pipes comes out first (again).

Don’t fret – there is a solution. Installing a hot water recirculation pump returns unused hot water to your water heater. Meaning, you won’t have to spend your precious time waiting for hot water to come out, and more importantly, you won’t waste water.
