6 Reasons to Go Tankless for the Holidays
We are all spending way more time than usual at home this year. And, if we’re going to spend so much time at home, we must make it as comfortable and calming as possible. If you haven’t made the switch to a tankless water heater yet, you might want to end 2020 by giving yourself (and your home) a gift that keeps on giving – hot water! Which is perfect for winter! It’s getting colder, even in San Diego. And, although there are a lot of holiday songs about snow, we’re pretty sure that your holiday dreams don’t include showering in water that feels like it came from the North Pole. Wouldn’t it be nice to wake up in the new year and take a hot shower?
You might wonder whether it is a good idea to spend money on a tankless water system just before Christmas. But tankless water heaters are always a good investment – they last a long time and are cheaper to operate than traditional tank water heaters in the long run.
6 Reasons to Go Tankless for the Holidays
1. Tankless water heaters provide a continuous flow of hot water.
With traditional water heaters, a home’s entire supply of hot water is stored in the tank and it is possible to run out of hot water. On the other hand, heating elements in tankless units heat water for as long as it is needed, offering endless hot water.
2. You will save money on your energy bills and help the environment.
While a conventional tank water heater heats water continuously, tankless water heaters heat only as much water as needed, when it is needed. Hence, their other name “on-demand” water heaters. Since tankless units use less energy, they can also lower your utility bills. For example, Energy Star certified tankless water heaters save a family of four at least $95 per year, or $1,800 over the lifetime of the water heater, on gas bills compared to a standard storage model.
3. Tankless units take up less space.
Tankless water heaters look aesthetically more pleasing than traditional tanks and can save a lot of floor space. A regular water heater takes up about nine square feet of floor space. A tankless unit hangs on a wall in an inconspicuous place and saves square footage. Here in California, square footage is expensive.
4. Tankless units function better and last longer.
Tankless units have roughly double the efficiency of a conventional tank. And they are also more durable. They should last 20 years as opposed to six or seven for the newer tank water heaters (when properly maintained, of course).
5. You won’t have to stand in line at the mall or wait for an Amazon delivery truck!
Installation of a tankless water heater is generally quick. The whole process usually takes four hours, and your tankless water heater should be up and running within the afternoon. And, we’ll take away and dispose of your old water tank!
6. Peace of Mind.
Have you ever had a water heater leak? The average water heater tank holds around 50 or more gallons of water. If it springs a leak, the water could cause a lot of damage! With a tankless unit, there isn’t that risk, since there’s no tank that holds water.
